Meanwhile, SZA garnered the highest number of nominations this year, with an impressive total of nine. Her nominations included album of the year, record of the year, and song of the year. Despite already boasting 15 Grammy nominations prior to this year’s event, SZA had only secured one win in the past, specifically for best pop duo/group performance in 2022 with “Kiss Me More.” However, her fortunes changed this year as she added more accolades to her name, including a well-deserved win for best R&B song early in the program.

Prior to the commencement of the show, numerous accolades were presented, including the inaugural category of best pop dance recording, which was bestowed upon Kylie Minogue for her track “Padam Padam.” The Beatles secured the award for best music video with their song “I’m Only Sleeping,” marking their first Grammy win since 1997.
In a groundbreaking moment, Tyla emerged victorious in the first-ever year of the category for best African music performance, earning the Grammy for her song “Water.”
SZA achieved her second career best pop duo/group performance award for “Ghost in the Machine,” while Phoebe Bridgers, alongside her band boygenius, clinched the award for best alternative music album.
Killer Mike triumphed in all three categories he was nominated for: best rap song, best rap performance, and best rap album. However, it was disconcerting to witness him being escorted out of the ceremony in handcuffs by several police officers.
Renowned folk music icon Joni Mitchell, aged 80, secured her 10th Grammy by winning best folk album for “Live at Newport.” She delivered a poignant rendition of “Both Sides, Now,” marking her first-ever performance at the Grammys and a rare appearance following her recovery from a brain aneurysm in 2015.
While the Oscars are still a few weeks away, “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” both claimed victory on Sunday, receiving awards for best compilation soundtrack for visual media and best score soundtrack for visual media, respectively. Additionally, Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas were honored with the awards for song of the year and best song written for visual media for their composition “What Was I Made For?” from the film “Barbie.”
