Allen’s impressive career has been marked by numerous accolades and record-breaking performances. He was a consistent presence at the Pro Bowl, earning the honor for five consecutive years from 2017 to 2021. Despite missing the final four games of the season due to a heel injury, he still managed to secure a sixth Pro Bowl selection in the previous season. Allen’s exceptional performance in that season saw him lead the NFL with a career-high and franchise-record 108 receptions for 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns.

Notably, Allen etched his name in NFL history by becoming the first player ever to record at least 15 catches in three separate games throughout his career. Furthermore, he achieved another remarkable feat by being the first player to amass 15 receptions and throw a touchdown pass in a single game. This extraordinary accomplishment occurred during a thrilling 28-24 victory over the Vikings in Week 3. In that game, Allen showcased his versatility by setting career highs with 18 receptions and 215 receiving yards, while also tossing a 49-yard touchdown pass to his teammate, Mike Williams.

Consistency has been a hallmark of Allen’s career, as he has surpassed the 100-reception mark in five of the last seven seasons. His remarkable reception totals include 102 in 2017, 104 in 2019, 100 in 2020, 106 in 2021, and a career-high 108 in 2023. Additionally, Allen boasts an impressive six 1,000-yard campaigns to his name. In a testament to his exceptional skills and productivity, he became the fastest player in NFL history to reach 900 receptions, achieving this milestone in just his 139th career game.

In 2013, he established new records for rookie receiving in the Chargers organization, amassing an impressive 71 receptions and 1,046 yards. Unfortunately, his 2016 season was cut short due to a devastating torn ACL injury. However, his remarkable comeback in 2017 earned him the prestigious title of NFL Comeback Player of the Year, as he led the entire league with an astounding 1,393 receiving yards. Notably, he became the first receiver in NFL history to achieve three consecutive games with a minimum of 10 catches, 100 yards, and one touchdown.

With the addition of Allen to their roster, the Bears now possess the distinction of being the sole NFL team with two receivers who both surpassed 1,200 yards in the previous season. Allen himself finished 11th in the league with an impressive 1,243 yards, while DJ Moore secured the sixth spot with a career-best 1,364 yards. It is worth mentioning that Allen’s former receivers coach from the Chargers, Chris Beatty, will be assuming the same role with the Bears this year.

Interestingly, the acquisition of Allen by the Bears closely follows their significant trade for Moore from the Panthers exactly a year ago. This blockbuster deal, which was finalized on March 10, 2023, involved the Bears surrendering their No. 1 pick in the previous year’s draft to Carolina in exchange for 2023 first- and second-round selections, a 2024 first-round pick (which ultimately became the No. 1 overall pick), and a 2025 second-round choice.
