Kelce, in his emotional press conference, reflected on his illustrious journey with the Eagles and expressed gratitude towards the individuals who played a pivotal role in his success, both during his time in Philadelphia and throughout his upbringing.
Kelce, who spent 13 seasons with the Eagles, achieved a remarkable feat by winning a Super Bowl and even releasing two Christmas albums. Reflecting on his time with the team, he expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to play his entire career in one city, considering it a dream come true. As he embarks on the next chapter of his journey, Kelce eagerly anticipates the fresh challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. He also emphasized the lasting impact of his time in Philadelphia, acknowledging the shared bond among all Philadelphians.
Kelce’s journey began when he was drafted by Philadelphia in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL draft from the University of Cincinnati. Throughout his career, he played under the guidance of four head coaches, namely Andy Reid, Chip Kelly, Doug Pederson, and Nick Sirianni.
Kelce’s exceptional performance on the field earned him numerous accolades, including seven Pro Bowl selections and six All-Pro honors. Notably, he achieved these distinctions in 2023.
Despite his impressive achievements, Kelce humbly admitted feeling overrated, attributing his success to relentless hard work and unwavering determination. Throughout his career, he embraced the underdog role, finding immense joy in proving doubters wrong. He fondly recalled his mother’s advice, stating that telling him he couldn’t do something only fueled his motivation. The doubters became a source of inspiration, igniting a fire within him that he cherished.
Jason Kelce will be eligible for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2029.
“It is truly indescribable how much Jason Kelce has impacted not only our organization, but also the entire City of Philadelphia and our devoted fans,” expressed Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie in a comprehensive statement shared on X. “For 13 years, he dedicated himself wholeheartedly to all of us, exhibiting a genuine and authentic approach. Jason’s exceptional talent as a football player is undeniable; he is undoubtedly a future Hall of Famer who would have excelled in any team. However, has there ever been a more perfect union between a player, a city, and a team?”
Expressing his gratitude, highly respected Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland took to social media to convey his appreciation for Kelce. “Jason, some of my most cherished coaching memories have been alongside you during these past 11 seasons. I am immensely proud of the player you have become and the lasting legacy you have established. Your absence by my side will be deeply felt. It has been an absolute honor, and I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you on an extraordinary career,” Stoutland shared on X.
Kelce discusses his Super Bowl LII parade address.
Kelce has established himself as a legendary figure in Philadelphia, both on and off the field. He has embraced the city as his second home, and his impassioned speech during the Eagles’ Super Bowl parade in 2018 will forever be etched in the annals of sports history.
Speaking on Monday, the 36-year-old humbly acknowledged that the iconic speech did not belong to him, but rather to the city of Philadelphia.

The stories shared by fans, who had waited for generations to witness that moment of triumph, elevated the experience to another level,” Kelce expressed.
“During the parade, I encountered a woman who carried the ashes of a deceased loved one, promising that they wouldn’t miss the celebration if the Eagles ever emerged victorious. The speech that unfolded seemed to write itself, encapsulating the essence of our collective journey as players, as a team, and as a city. It wasn’t my speech; it belonged to Philadelphia,” Kelce concluded.
Playing in Philadelphia is truly a wonderful blessing.

“It’s almost poetic that my career reached its peak in the City of Brotherly Love,” Kelce remarked. “That connection is something I hold dear.”
Furthermore, Kelce outlined the challenges and requirements for athletes to thrive in Philadelphia.
“While some may struggle in this city due to the pressure from fans, media, and criticism, I view it as a privilege to compete in the most fervent sports town in the nation. The relentless pursuit of victory in this city has driven our team to take risks, address issues, and put in the hard work needed to succeed.”
