Skechers ’24 Big Game Spot: Mr. T in Skechers

Although Mr. T’s prime may have been four decades ago, this iconic figure from the 80s still possesses the ability to captivate audiences with his larger-than-life persona in the latest Skechers advertisement. The inclusion of a cameo by Tony Romo and Mr. T’s grand entrance adds an extra layer of excitement, earning this ad some well-deserved bonus points.

BetMGM Big Game Commercial – ‘Tom’s Winning Streak’.

With a record-breaking number of Super Bowl wins under his belt, Tom Brady’s unparalleled success has led BetMGM to prohibit him from participating in any betting activities in their Big Game commercial. While Vince Vaughn and Wayne Gretzky are exempt from this restriction, not even Brady’s clever disguise can grant him the betting excitement he yearns for.

8. BMW USA: Speaking in the Style of Christopher Walken.

BMW USA presents Christopher Walken in “Talkin Like Walken” featuring Usher.

BMW USA presents a captivating advertisement featuring the iconic Christopher Walken. While many individuals have attempted to imitate Walken’s distinctive persona, the renowned actor himself appears to have grown weary of such endeavors. However, there is one exception to this sentiment – Usher. Notably, Usher’s involvement in the ads, both prior to and following his remarkable halftime performance, has garnered Walken’s genuine admiration.

7. Sir Patrick Stewart Extends a Warm Greeting to Arnold, Paramount+.

In Paramount+’s Super Bowl ad, Patrick Stewart, known for his roles in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Picard, fearlessly embraces a comical persona. He playfully instructs Drew Barrymore to be quiet and playfully dresses up in a vintage football attire. Sir Patrick then takes on the challenge of throwing Hey Arnold!’s iconic animated protagonist, a young boy with a distinctive football-shaped head, a considerable distance. Unfortunately, the endeavor doesn’t yield the desired outcome for poor Arnold, but it certainly elicits some hearty laughter.

6. State Farm, the epitome of being a reliable neighbor.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s pronunciation has never been his strong point, but he embraces the humor in this State Farm advertisement. The commercial cleverly references one of Schwarzenegger’s most iconic lines from the movie Predator, before bringing him together with his Twins co-star Danny DeVito. Surprisingly, this year’s ads were filled with an abundance of ’80s references.

5. Apartments.com: Here to Stay.

Jeff Goldblum was the perfect choice to welcome the extraterrestrial beings in this advertisement, with the exception of Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner, who starred in the movie Arrival. Although Jeremy Renner had his own Super Bowl ad this year, Jeff Goldblum portrayed a much friendlier reception towards the alien visitors compared to the hostile encounters depicted in the Independence Day movies. Unlike the invaders in those films, these aliens have no intention of conquering the planet; instead, they are simply settling in and causing an increase in property values.

4. Popeyes, the Long Wait is Finally Over.

It appears that this was influenced by either Demolition Man or Austin Powers. Irrespective of the chosen film, Ken Jeong delivered a highly entertaining performance as a character who underwent cryogenic freezing for more than fifty years, all in anticipation of Popeyes including wings on their chicken menu. One can only hope that those wings are truly exceptional!

3. Audrey Plaza Having a Great Time, Mountain Dew.

In contrast to her Parks and Recreation colleague Chris Pratt, who appeared in a less impressive Pringles advertisement, Audrey Plaza had the opportunity to showcase her sharp-witted personality and feature in a humorous commercial. Her performance was impeccable, and the ad concluded with Nick Offerman, another co-star from Parks and Rec, riding a dragon reminiscent of Game of Thrones alongside her.

2. Experience the T-Mobile Home Internet Sensation, T-Mobile.

Two Flashdance-inspired commercials aired during this year’s Super Bowl, despite the fact that Flashdance was released 41 years ago. The one that truly stood out was T-Mobile’s, as it managed to incorporate humor and even featured a cameo from Jennifer Beals, the star of Flashdance. NERDS candy, you’ve got quite the challenge ahead of you if you want to surpass that!

Zach Braff and Donald Faison, who are not only co-stars but also close friends, team up with Jason Momoa from Aquaman to showcase the benefits of T-Mobile’s home internet through a lively song and dance routine. Surprisingly, the focus of their performance was not solely on the product itself, but rather on the overall presentation. It was unexpected to see Braff making a reference to Beals’ relaxed T-shirt from the movie.

1. The DunKings, Dunkin’ Doughnuts, is a renowned brand in the world of coffee and baked goods.

Two decades ago, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez faced severe backlash in Hollywood due to their involvement in a disastrous movie. However, fast forward to 2024, and the dynamic duo has managed to redeem themselves by starring in this year’s most remarkable Super Bowl advertisement. This advertisement cleverly references Lopez’s previous appearance in Affleck’s ad from the previous year. As a surprise twist, Affleck, along with his friends Matt Damon, Tom Brady, and others, interrupts Lopez’s latest studio session to form a group called The DunKings.

Unfortunately, Lopez seems unimpressed by the unexpected intrusion and is likely contemplating divorce papers, while Damon amusingly takes responsibility for his part in this chaotic situation. Despite the challenges they faced in the past, this turn of events almost justifies all the media attention surrounding their relationship, famously known as “Bennifer.”
